Kaltenbach sisters lead Smoky Hill

Smoky Hill sr Megan Kaltenbach opened her senior year impressively in 18:45.99. "I felt strong," Megan told the Boulder News. Sophomore Katelyn Kaltenbach was second, 20 seconds behind her sister, and Morgan Schulz was third for Smoky Hill, which beat host Fairview 41-79. Fairview freshman Nell Rojas, whose dad Ric Rojas won the first Bolder Boulder race in 1979, was fourth in her first 5k race. Rojas set the pace through the first mile before the Kaltenbachs reeled her in.

Brent Vaughn made it an individual sweep for Smoky Hill by winning the boys race in 16:18.29.
