Rogers defended their No. 1 ranking in both the Boys and Girls by easily
winning the Panther Invitational in Siloam Springs on 9/27. The Mounties
won by 29-52 over Springdale in a twelve -team meet and the Lady
Mounties won by 31-89 over Springdale Girls in an eleven-team meet.
Staci Papageorge (Rogers soph) easily won the 4K Girls race in 15:02
while fellow Rogers soph LeAnna Peerson was 2nd in 15:27 followed
closely by Diane Miller (Siloam Springs senior) in 15:30.

In Boys action, Michael McCullough (Rogers junior) put in the top
performance of the week in his winning effort in 15:47. Rogers rested
two of their varsity and three others who ran put in a nine mile road
run earlier in the day. Rogers put seven in 17 minutes or better with a
58 second spread for their Top 5.

Eric Harris (Conway junior) won the University of Arkansas-Little Rock
Open Meet senior boys 5K in 16:18. In the Girls race, which featured
four of the Top 5 Girls in Arkansas, the new course layout turned out to
be confusing resulting in half of the field taking a wrong turn. The
entire race was then nullfiied.
