Arkansas Outdoor Track and Field Meets Recap Week 4

April 21, 2003

Track season got into full swing as ten meets benefited from warmer, although windy, weather. With the season at its mid point, the athletes responded with six DyeStat Elite marks in five meets. Pole vaulters took top billing as Stephanie Irwin (Mt. Ida),previously 2nd on the Arkansas All-Time Best List, tied Jodie Mayes (Fayetteville) at 12’ 0” at the Scrapper Relays in Nashville, AR on April 10. A week later on April 17, Irwin took sole possession of the top spot with a 12’ 4” vault at the Jessieville Relays while also winning the 100m and long jump. Lake Hamilton’s Aaron Puckett was not to be outdone as he became the first Arkansas boy in 2003 to clear 15’ 0” to just miss inclusion in the All-Time Best List with his winning vault at Lake Hamilton’s Wolf Classic in Pearcy, AR on April 18. Katya Kostetskaya (Jonesboro) claimed another DyeStat Elite mark as she posted a 43.84 for the 300m hurdles at the Eagle Relays in Paragould, AR on April 10. Kostetskaya also won the 100m hurdles and the 200m. Lakeisha Martin (Pine Bluff) leaped 18’ 9” to clear the DyeStat LJ barrier again at the Cardinal Relays in Camden on April 17 while nearly meeting the 100m mark with a swift 12.10 clocking. Shonda Martin (Crossett) met the mark in the SP with a throw of 43’ 4” at the Cardinal Relays. Chase Feltner (Russellville) raced to a 4:17.30 win the 1600m at the Wolf Classic to barely miss the mark. Eldridge (Broken Arrow, OK) cruised to a 5:05.56 in the Girls 1600m at the Rogers Mountaineer Relays on April 15 as well as winning the 800m in sub-2:20, running a sub-2:20 leg on the 4x8 and a 60+ leg on the 4x4.
