Arkansas Outdoor Track and Field Meets Recap Week 3

April 14, 2003

Warmer weather allowed for two outstanding meets as three DyeStat Elite marks were posted at the Oil Belt Relays (4/4/03) in El Dorado, AR and 17 new meet records were set at the Pointer Relays (4/11/03) in Van Buren, AR. In the Oil Belt, Lakeisha Martin (Pine Bluff) leaped 19’ 6” in the long jump on her way to scoring a meet high 48 points. Tina Harris (Ruston, LA) also exceeded the standard with a jump of 19’ 4”. Harris also won the high jump with a 5’ 6” effort. Martin also won the 100m (12.73), the 200m (25.65), the 300m hurdles (48.14) and placed 2nd in the high jump. Frankie Gaston (Ruston, LA) soared 23’ 11” to win the boys LJ with another Dyestat Elite mark. Gaston also crusied to a win the 400m at 49.50. Jerome Phillips (Crossett) took double wins in the 110m hurdles (14.88) and the 300m hurdles (39.45). At the Pointer meet, Aaron Puckett (Lake Hamilton) won the PV in 14’ 6” while Jarod Crenshaw (Russellville) won the 110m hurdles in 14.75. Wallace Spearmon (Fayetteville) posted another excellent 200m win in 21.76 and teammate Jodie Mayes won the Girls PV with a vault of 11’ 0”. The fans at the Panther Relays (4/9/03) in Cabot, AR saw 400/800/1600m ace Katya Kostetskaya (Jonesboro) post a win in the 300m hurdles (46.24) and take 2nd in the 100m hurdles (16.27). Shonda Martin (Crossett) improved her state-leading toss in the Girls Sp with a DyeStat Elite mark of 45’ 4” at the Rip Powell Relays (4/10/03) in Magnolia, AR. Isiah Rucker (Camden Fairview) also surpassed the DyeStat standard in the Boys SP with a winning heave of 59’ 8.5”. Jerome Phillips (Crossett) took another double hurdle win at 14.53 and 39.43. Roy Carey (Magazine) sped to a 200m win in 21.96 at the Alma Invitational on 4/11/03.
