San Lorenzo Girls heading to Bloomington

Coach Darryl Hampton announced his San Lorenzo Girl's relay squad would be
heading to Indiana University to take on the nation's best in relay
competition. "We beat the best outdoor teams in the nation last year at the
Foot Locker meet in Raleigh and now we want to do the same indoors," he
commented. The Californians lead the nation in the 4x100mR at 45.53 and
ranked #3-US over the 4x200mR distance, 1:37.38. The team is lead by senior
Aisha Margain, a 24.03 sprinter.
Also confirming were Dana Bethel, jr Mission Viejo CA, #7-US at the
100mH distance with a
13.87 clocking and 400m runner Kori Hamilton, sr Glendora CA, fourth in
'99. On the
Boy's side, Tory Allmond, Santa Fe Springs CA, 24-4.25 and Travon
Walton, sr Chino CA, the #3 returnee over 400m, 47.09 will vie for the
Nike Champion title and the ring that goes with
it.
Co-Meet Director Mike Byrnes commented, "We're really please and quite
surprised at the number and quality of those kids committing so early. It
bodes well for what promises to be the first great indoor meet of the
millennium, the Nike Indoor Classic."
