Previews: Biggest, best Team USA ready for Italy
Mike Kennedy Event-by-Event Preview - Team Roster - Team Photos

55-member squad could set new standards - With seven world leaders as part of their biggest and best team ever, Team USA could exceed its previous meet-leading standards of seven golds and 15 medals.  Team USA members are now ranked in the top three globally in 16 events, according to the IAAF, with nine more in the top eight.

2007 Ostrava - Hurdle Heaven

Team USA scored 7 golds and 14 total medals to lead both counts - thanks in large part to a sweep of the four hurdle events.  Wayne Davis II and William Wynne set 110H and 400H World Youth records with times of 13.18 and 49.01, respectively, while Dalilah Muhammad and Julian Purvis did the job at 100H and 400H for the girls.

Both relay teams also scored gold, while Christian Taylor was tops in the field events with a TJ gold.  Medals were also won by Jordan Hasay, Chalonda Goodman, Ryann Krais, Reggie Wyatt, and Ken Gilstrap, while Wynne and Taylor each earned medals in other events.
