This event was a showdown between two New York teams, Newburgh and Colonie. Newburgh was in the lead on the final exchange and never relinquished it, quickly pulling away and holding on to the national title. They won by more than a second in 3:28.25, with the following splits: Donald Cooper 22.6, Fred Locklary 22.0, Mountain 49.2, and Akinto Boone (above) 1:54.1. They said it was their first sprint medley of the season, so their plan for the day was just to "do their best," and they executed it perfectly. They added they do not have a huge rivalry with Colonie, and the race "just unfolded that way." They are also running a 4x400 and 4x200 this weekend.
Colonie's splits were: Steve Crouse 22.6, Jim Kehrer 22.1, Tyler Stewart 50.2, and Nick Santos 1:54.5

Analysis: Cordoza endured some interference early on the 400m leg from eventual 4th place Motor City Club (Mumford; Detroit, Mi). MCC tried to bully and throw off the smooth striding Delilah Muhammad to no avail. Muhammad actually opened up a sizable lead after 300m into her leg and the set up was perfect for anchor Allison Lee. Lee (above) blazed out to an insane 61.xx opening 400m of the 800. She tied up a bit the last 150m but had more than enough for the championship victory.
