Sunday - Youth to the fore on final day - YB star Elias Gedyon, 800 record-setter on Saturday, adds titles in the 400 and 1500, while YG star Robin Reynolds (200/800 winner Saturday) sets a 53.10 national youth record in the 400 and finishes a close runner-up in 100. Brittany Borman gets the YW throws sweep with her DT win, Candyce McGrone takes the YW 100/200 double and Ashley Schnell completes the YW 3k/1500 distance double - Day 6
Saturday - Big 800 record for Elias Gedyon - Quiet Fire youth boys star blazes 1:55.39 800 to break 6-year-old mark. More fast 800s by Howard Shepard (IB), Jamar Jones (YM), and others. Robin Reynolds 200/800 double in Youth Girls. Fast 200s by Candyce McGrone and Chalonda Goodman - Day 5
Friday - Troy Doris again: 23-06 - IL standout completes jump double; CA star Karyn Dunn gets narrow LJ victory; tough winds buffet sprinters; rising star Elias Gedyon leads YB 1500 qualifying by 12 seconds in 4:13.79 - Day 4
Thursday - Troy Doris out to wind-legal 51-10.00 in YM triple jump - Illinois leaper Doris, runner-up at US Junior Nationals, nails a big one with +0.0 wind. Also, Wednesday's young women's heptathlon winner Victoria Dunlap TN returns to win the LJ in 18-09.75, and intermediate boys decathlon winner Dakotah Keys OR comes back for a 173-03 javelin victory. A rising star is Arizona's Hannah Carson, who destroyed the youth girls (13-14 year-olds) javelin field with her 148-03 national youth record - Day 3
Wednesday - Victoria Dunlap and Mark Horist take YW and YM multis - Day 1 leader Dunlap of Tennessee hits 4,838 heptathlon points, more than enough to hold off runner-up Kiersten Kirkland CA with 4,664. Californian Horist racks up 5,521 points en route to his decathlon victory over Eric Hall IA (5,211). Shakeia Pinnick IL (4,614) and Dakotah Keys OR (5,731) take the intermediate heptathlon and decathlon, respectively - Day 2
Tuesday- Conor McCullough Breaks A Henning Record - The CA soph hammer star hits 237-11 in the Intermediate Boys division to beat Walter Henning's mark - Day 1
Preview The USATF Youth Championships are a national competition with entry based upon qualifying standards for each event and has the same age divisions as the USATF Junior Olympic program. Bantam (10 and under), Midget (11-12), Youth (13-14), Intermediate (15-16) and Young Men/Women (17-18). Among the anticipated matchups and appearances at the high school level are: Intermediate (15-16 year olds)
- Rising hammer star Conor McCullough CA is seeded over 100 feet farther than his nearest competition
- A meeting of US Junior National champions in the intermediate girls 1500, with Junior 1500 winner Jordan Hasay CA scheduled to square off against Junior 5k champ Emily Sisson NE. Sisson is also scheduled to return in the intermediate girls 3k.
- Californian Karynn Dunn has reached 20-06.50 in the long jump as a soph, and is hoping to extend that in Lisle.
Young Men & Women (17-18 year olds)
- A pair of provocative one-lappers, as Chanelle Price PA, on a tear recently in the 800, steps down to race 400 meters against established quartermiler Meshawn Graham OH and 400H specialists Dalilah Muhammad NY and Ryann Krais PA. The Young Men's 400 is equally interesting, with hurdles stars William Wynne GA and Reggie Wyatt CA (with sub-47 cred of their own) eschewing the barriers in favor of a flat 400 against 46.76 speedster Danzell Fortson TX.
- In the young men's 800, US#2 Dylan Ferris NC looks to erase recent championship disappointments against a field that includes 1:51.94 talent Jamar Jones PA
- Candyce McGrone IN is aiming for titles in the 100m and 200m after finishing 4th in both at US Junior Nationals. She'll have to get past Erica Alexander TX in the 100 and NON surprise sprint sweeper Chalonda Goodman GA in the 200.
- The young men's HJ is shaping up to be a showdown between last year's intermediate boys' champion Frankie Hammond FL and young men's runner-up Jonathan Clark CA.
- Missouri thrower Brittany Borman brings the top seeds in the young women's discus, shot put and javelin, and is also slated to contest the heptathlon.
