Jeff Tran 15-3
Jeff Tran (Velocity/Fountain Valley, Ca.) and Michael Woepse (Socal. Cheetahs/Mater Dei, Santa Ana, Ca.) both cleared 15-3 with Tran prevailing on fewer total misses, two to one. Tran’s height is just one inch off his personal best set outdoors. Dawson Lewis (YMCA Team Idaho/Eagle, Id.) first try clearance at 14-9 earned him third place. Jordan Parker (Reno, Nv.) and Matt Cooper (Socal. Cheetahs/ Mater Dei, Santa Ana, Ca.) tied for fourth at 14-9 with two missed and Brandon Douglass (Kelly Walsh, Casper, Wy.) was sixth with four misses.
| Shade Weygandt 12-3
Defending champion Shade Weygandt (Mansfield, Tx.) opened at 11-9 and then cleared 12-3 on her first attempt before missing three times at 12-9. Katherine Zingheim (Granite Bay, Ca.) was one of five vaulters to clear 11-3 but claimed second with no misses at any height. Morgan Hartigan (East, Cheyenne, Wy.), Jenna Adams (ATS Elite/Littleton, Co.) and Kortney Ross (Westview, San Diego, Ca.) finished in that order based on misses.

Twenty-six jumpers cleared 13-0 to advance to the final. Mike Woepse (Socal. Cheetahs/Mater Dei, Santa, Ca.), who cleared 16-2 in 2008 and has already been over 16-0 this year outdoors, was just one of nine vaulters who entered with best of 15-0 and advanced. They included Jaren Hippler (Oregon City, Or.), who has already been over 15-7 this winter, Jordan Park (Reno, Nv.), Jeff Tran (Velocity/Fountain Valley, Ca.), Matt Cooper (Socal. Cheetahs/Mater Dei, Santa Ana, Ca.), Mike Starr (Folsom, Ca.), Landon Blanchard (Cody, Wy.), Lane Britnell (unat) and Cody Cunningham (unat.). Five vaulters who entered with bests of 14-6 or better, also advanced including Steve Turpin (Cambpell County, Gillette, Wy.), Dawson Lewis (YMCA Team Idaho, Id.), Glen Clinton (Cody, Wy.), Brandon Douglass (Kelly Walsh, Casper, Wy.) and Clinton McKinley (unat).
Girls
Twenty-nine vaulters cleared 9-0 to advance to the final including Shade Weygandt (Mansfield, Tx.), who won here last year at 13-1 and had a best of 13-10 outdoor in 2008. Five other vaulters with bests of 12-0 or higher also advanced including Kortney Ross (Westview, San Diego, Ca.), Theresa Waybright (Borah, Boise, Id.), Brooke Arthur (Socal. Cheetahs/Mater Dei, Ca.), Chelsea Barr (YMCA Team Idaho/Nampa Christian, Christian, Id.) and Anna Bales (Cody, Wy.). |
