West Windsor-Plainsboro North (Plainsboro, N.J.) overcame a fall by leadoff runner Ryan Sleeper to run 17:21.58 and smash the nation record of 17:25.98 set by Shenendehowa (Clifton Park, N.Y.) in 2004. Sleeper, who fell at 400 meters, recovered well enough to move West Windsor into second place behind Haddonfield (N.J.), with a split of 4:25.0. Tyler Corkedale, of West Windsor and Jonathan Vitez of Haddonfield ran together for much of the second leg before Corkedale’s 4:22.0 leg gave West Windsor a lead it never relinquished. Sophomore Joe Rosa ran 4:16.0 on the third leg and twin brother Jim anchored in 4:18.0 to secure the national record. Western Branch (Chesapeake, Va.) was second at 18:00.11 and Baldwin Hills (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was third at 18:06.52.

Newton South (Newton, Ma.) opened with Kelsey Karys running 5:08.0 and were never challenged, winning in 20:25.90, the then-fastest time in the nation, to become the sixth fastest team of all-time. Blacksburg (Va.) and Saratoga Springs (N.Y.) ran with Newton South for much of the second leg before Keelin Hollowood opened up a small advantage for Saratoga Springs.. However, Kathleen Stevens ran a very strong anchor leg for Blacksburg to move them into second at 20:33.16 to move to No. 9 on the all-time list. Tatnall (Wilmington, De.), with Juliet Bottorff anchoring, was third at 20:46.01 and Saratoga Springs was fourth at 20:57.41. Arlington (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) was fifth at 21:14.38. Newton South’s other splits were Kathy O’Keefe, 5:05.0; Melanie Fineman, 5:07.0 and Bridget Dahlberg, 5:05.0.
