Loyola boys 60.26, Muir girls 64.04
Boys by SteveU - A stunning anchor leg netted Loyola (Los Angeles) its second win of the night. Ryan Holmes (right, getting the lead) went well under 15 seconds on the final leg to come from behind, pass Notre Dame (CA) and Desert Vista (AZ) and claim the victory in 60.26 seconds. Holmes was preceded by Victor Harewood, Warren Wood and Robbie Paton. Paton, a junior, was the only non-senior.
“I got off to a shaky start, but by hurdle three, I was in my race,” said Holmes.
Added Woods, “We weren’t really thinking about anyone else; we just wanted to run our own race.”
Girls by Dave Devine - In a rare ascension from the seeded section, San Marcos CA managed to take the girls Shuttle Hurdle Relay from the “second fastest” heat, topping Muir CA’s 64.04 Invitational winner with their 63.30 from the preceding heat. Bishop O’Dowd CA, second place in the seeded section, also surpassed Muir with their 63.87 clocking.

Men’s Shuttle Hurdles
–The Invitational section was very, very competitive, with Loyola emerging the win at 60.26 over Muir
60.43 and Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) 60.89, the state’s top 3 clockings of the spring.
Women’s Shuttle Hurdles
–Off final strong two legs from Jamila Gamble and Lyndsay Pearson, San Marcos (Santa Barbara)
was the winner in a Nation-leading 63.30, with Bishop O’Dowd 63.87, the #2 clocking in the US.
Muir took the Invitational contest at 64.04 for the #3 time in the nation this spring.
