Boys - Girls

BOYS

1. Albuquerque Academy, NM

The Chargers were able to win their 8th cross country title in 9 years. Once again the battle between Academy and Los Alamos was a “Slug-Fest” as the two heavyweights stood in the middle of the ring and exchanged blows. Academy struck first and hardest when their dominating 1-2 punch of Ben Johnson and Dustin Martin finished 1st and 2nd respectively. Academy then followed it up with a barrage of body blows that eventually gave the Red Army the decision. The Chargers remain undefeated.

On Saturday a more aggressive game plan as carried out by the Hilltoppers and they were able to finish within reach of the Albuquerque Academy Chargers. The biggest performance came from Gareth Gilna who raced ill a week earlier and was able to bounce back with a top 5 performance and finish in front of Academy’s #3 Pat Zacharias.
