| Strong doubles for Lamb, Tonn; 16' PV for Hsu Wheaton tops Chase in wild 400; team titles to Chandler girls, DV boys
Desert doubles delight - Whether it was a runner stepping up to fill in for an injured teammate in a relay, or an athlete begging the results tent for team standings, the word track was undoubtedly spelled t-e-a-m this weekend. Meet story by Cheyne Heiny | Photo Gallery by Chris Heiny |

- Chandler's own Bryce Lamb propelled to a 48-07.75 (+0.7) in the Triple Jump. His jump put him way ahead of the pack; 3.75 feet, to be exact. He also took the LJ in 24-02.25 (0.0).
- Jessica Tonn took the 1600 with a 4:57.67, then followed with an even more impressive 10:44.47 3200, six seconds ahead of the runner-up, Dominique Gerard. Tonn's outstanding performance earned her the plaque for the meet's Female MVP.
- Alec Hsu was also in the spotlight, clearing the ever elusive 16-00 Pole Vault barrier. Riley Crosby and Matt Vipond kept Hsu company until the very end, both ending their day at 15-00.
- Markus Wheaton edged Spencer Chase, 47.38-47.39, in what turned out to be the most exciting race of the day and one of the fastest 400s this season. Chris Muncie finished third with a 47.80.
- Cadija Harris crashed Sierra Meyer's repeat party in the High Jump, upsetting the defending champ with a 5-06 jump, two inches ahead of Meyer. Taylor Stapley and Lauren Laszczak wouldn't fall without a fight, either, both ending the day at 5-02.
- Team titles to Chandler girls and Desert Vista boys.
Preview: Boys 400 and 1600, girls HJ could be highlights
Dave Shapiro knows how to pick 'em. The annual Rotary Invite meet director and long-time Chandler coach has been spot on for his last two previews, highlighting the Girls 1600 in 2007 (five girls raced to a sub-five minute time) and the Boys 800 last year (James Eichberger - 1:51.55 - edged out John Kline - 1:52.33 - for the win). This season, however, the top story may come from up to three events. The 400 and 1600 pack the most punch for the boys and the High Jump should steal the show for the girls. - Full Preview by Cheyne Heiny
