Boys - Girls

Weather: sunny, brisk with temps in high 40s, slight breeze
Course: 5K, mostly flat on grass

(Note: Each state fields a team of 25 boys and 25 girls and the team
score is based on the Top 9 from each team. Arkansas has seven
classifications with Class 7A for the largest 16 schools; Oklahoma has
five classifications with Class 5A being for the largest schools).

BOYS

Kevin Schwab (5A Mustang, OK) took his third All-Stars title in as many
years to lead the Sooner State past the Natural State by 63-130 on a
gorgeous morning for a cross country race. Schwab blistered the 5k
course in 15:04.81 with a 4:40 first mile. Arkansas was led by Josh
Brewer (6A Lake Hamilton) in 2nd at a state leading 15:44.29 while
Johnny Purvis (1A Jasper) ran a strong race for 3rd at 15:56.76. Top
Boys were:

GIRLS

Sara Vaughn (5A Tulsa Union, OK) led the entire way for the individual
title in 18:30.97 to lead the Oklahomans to a narrow 83-88 win over
their Arkansas neighbors. This was the first time for this event to
cover 5K for girls as Oklahoma normally runs 3200m. Tess Lackey (2A
Plainview, OK) slipped into 2nd just ahead of Erika Setzler (7A Conway,
AR) who outlasted Jori Davis (3A Piedmont, OK) down the stretch. Top
Girls were:

3. Erika Setzler, 7A Conway, AR, 18:45.11
