Friday Grant Lindsey TX tops 7-0 for high jump gold, Maston Wallace TX vaults 16-6, Rachel Laurent LA wins pole vault duel with Shade Weygandt TX, both over 13-4. The 100 heats live up to expectations, as US#1 Rynell Parson clocks 10.34 (+3.8 wind), Tiffany Townsend zips 11.26 (+2.9 wind) and Bianca Knight sets a meet record with a wind-legal 11.36 (+1.6), setting up some great Saturday finals. This showcase of Lone Star State athletes, along with other national-class talent, offers a limited menu of individual track events (100, 110/100 hurdles, 1600, 3200, 2000SC) so much of the hot action is in the relays - 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, 4x800, SMR, DMR. The full array of field events is loaded, as usual. Headliners include:
- Rynell Parson, Stevens HS, TX, Soph - the current 100m US#1 at 10.32
- Oscar Spurlock, Carter HS, TX, Sr - current 110H US#1 at 13.52
- Angleton TX boys - current US#1 41.12 4x100 and US#1 1:25.84 4x200. In 2006, Texas and Midwest City OK dominated the 4x100, with 13 of the year’s US top 14 times. In the 4x200, Texas and West Monroe LA had 12 of the top 14 US times.
- DeSoto TX boys - current 4x400 US#1 at 3:13.48

- Brittani Carter, Marshall HS, TX, Sr - current US#1 HJ with 5-10 clearance
- Kamorean Hayes, Harding U HS, NC, Sr - 52-2 US#1 SP in 2006 (#10 all-time). Won NIN and 2006 NON and US Jr National. Also, US#4 DT returnee at 158-2, with 162-10 PR for 2005 World Youth Championship bronze.
