Girls Highlights
  • Berkeley Springs sr Rachel Buser concluded her reign at the top of Class AA-A with her fourth straight title, becoming only the second WV runner to accomplish that feat.  Her 19:34 was 40 seconds better than runner-up Chanel Alexander, a Grafton soph.
  • Alexander's team, however, topped the AA-A podium.  Grafton's top 5 was evenly distributed in the top 20 as they scored 54 to runner-up Shady Springs' 82.
  • In the AAA race, any plans that last year's top returnee Allison Pettit of Morgantown had of reaching the top were nipped by Elkins freshman Letitia Propst.  Both were clocked in a course-record 18:48, 23 seconds ahead of University sr Hallie Portner.  Pettit was 3rd as a junior last year behind super seniors Amber Riley and Kaylyn Christopher.
  • University, however, took the AAA team title, with 58.  They gapped Preston (3rd, 84) with their 4th runner, and Morgantown (2nd, 64) with their 5th.  Morgantown had a 3-year winning-sreak broken.

Boys Highlights
  • In Class AA-A, Doddridge Co. sr Levi Grandt repeated his title by beating tough rival Lenny Roach (Berkeley Springs jr.), 16:06-16:23, a course record time.
  • With a good 1-2 punch of Ben Wise (17:01) and Nathan Rees (17:07) in 4th and 5th (team scoring), and a 5th man better than anyone else's, Ravenswood took their 8th straight AA-A title.  They totaled 65 points to Berkeley Springs' 81.
  • Wheeling Park sr Ryan Beabout was also a repeat winner, taking the AAA crown in 16:14, 21 seconds up on North Marion jr Zach Tennant.
  • With Beabout's teammates Kyle Gramlich (16:43) and Logan Wojcik (17:05) scoring 3rd and 6th, Wheeling Park went from three points out of first last year to a 43-point winner over host Cabell Midland.  They went 1-3-6-12-21 for 37 points.
