  • Class 4A - Broughton boys 59 over Chapel Hill 94; East Chapel Hill girls 94 over Green Hope 115
  • Class 3A - Mooresville 69 over Nash Central 83; TC Roberson girls 57 over Lake Norman 84
  • Class 2A - Swannanoa Owen 56 over West Stanley 88; Cardinal Gibbons girls 45 over Orange 68
  • Class 1A - Hayesville boys 50 over Gray Stone Day 63; Bishop McGuinness girls 84 over Hayesville 84 (6th runner tiebreaker)
Class 4A Highlights
  • Chapel Hill NC sr Taylor Gilland, won his 3rd straight 4A boys title, beating Northwest Guilford's Seth Crawford by six seconds in 15:51.
  • SE#5 Raleigh Broughton boys won their second straight 4-A title with 59 points to 94 for runner-up and SE bubble team Chapel Hill. Bubble teams Northwest Guilford and Morrisville Green Hope were 3rd and 4th.
  • North Mecklenburg sr Kim Spano also won her third straight in 4A with 18:05, 20 seconds faster than Carolyn Baskir of East Chapel Hill.
  • However, Baskir helped lead SE bubble team East Chapel Hill to the 4A team title with 94 points to 115 for fellow bubble team Green Hope. Watauga was third. Chapel Hill was 7th after winning three in a row.
Class 3A Highlights
  • Asheville T.C. Roberson won its fifth consecutive state girls title with 57 points to 84 for runner-up Lake Norman. Monroe Sun Valley was third at 104.
  • Charlotte Olympic jr Kenyatta Iyerbele won the individual title in 19:07, edging T.C. Roberson runners Marie Mauher (19:11) and Laura Hoer (19:17).
  • Mooresville captured its third straight boys crown with 69 points, 14 ahead of Nash Central. Waxhaw Marvin Ridge was third with 109.
  • Asheville junior John Harwell took top individual honors in 15:58, 13 seconds ahead of runner-up Steven Bollinger of Olympic.
Class 2A Highlights
  • Black Mountain's Owen HS boys won their second straight title, plcing five runners in the top 17 for 56 points, 32 ahead of runner-up West Stanly. Orange was third with 99 points.
  • West Stanly senior Daniel Yeakley was the individual winner in 16:22, 17 seconds ahead of Ben Sterett of Swansboro.
  • Soph Sarah Rapp led Cardinal Gibbons to the girls title for the fourth consecutive year, winning in 19:31, ahead of Orange runners Mackenzi Robinson (19:55) and Emily Wirzba (19:58).  Gibbons had 45 points to 68 for Orange, followed by Carrboro (102).
Class 1A Highlights
  • East Wilkes senior Erick Blackburn ran 16:50, eight seconds ahead of Polk's John Spence Wolfe, to take the individual title.
  • Hayesville won the boys team championship, scored 50 points to 63 for runner-up Misenheimer Gray Stone Day.  Durham's North Carolina School of Science and Math placed third with 101.
  • Kernersville Bishop McGuinness overcame Hayesville to win girls title in a 6th-girl tiebreaker after both scored 84 points. Robbinsville was just back in third with 89.
  • Robbinsville junior Faith Trammell won one of the closest races of the day in 19:59, three seconds ahead of Hendersonville's Kristen Trout.  Two-time champ Zatha Loewen was 7th.
