5/11-17 Notables
  • Tough to come by  Blame it on the quality of marks already currently on the list, or perhaps the fact that a lot of the biggest state meets are yet to come, but new national leaders were tougher to come by this week than any week yet - just eight additions to the list.
  • Jelmini breaks new territory  With her two new national leaders - a shot mark that put her #2 all-time and a discus throw that has her standing alone as the US record holder - Anna Jemini CA has achieved something no one else ever has: a status of #2 or better on two individual all-time lists.  The debate on her status among the all-time greats has begun - is she the greatest female thrower ever, the greatest thrower of either gender, or even the greatest prep track athlete ever?  She is just six inches away from breaking Michelle Carter's US mark in the shot.
  • Fit to be tied  With his 35.71 300H, Reggie Wyatt CA not only revised his own national leader, but tied - exactly - his PR from a year ago.  Last year's 35.71, however, was a high-altitude mark, coming at Great Southwest in Albuquerque.
  • Saenz back on top  The US indoor leader, Stephen Saenz not only took the US outdoor lead for the first time with his 72-06.25, but in becoming #5 all-time is now the fourth new entry in history's top ten this year.  He actually bumped Mason Finley CO down to #11..

8 NEW US#1s added (so far) for May 11-17
