2nd and US Champion, Karimah Shephert VA with her mom, Odetta and sister Kiara Karimah is a military gal who, despite being in many schools, is a level headed girl, says her mom, Odetta. Mom and dad are both career Navy, stationed in Norfolk VA for a while to give Karimah a chance to finish high school. Dad was out to sea and could not make the NSIC. Karimah will be at NC State next year.

Nabil Mubarak points to Davis Fraker's gold star. He earned the star last month at Simplot when he won both the Shot and Weight Throws. He was hoping it would bring him good luck at NSIC. And it did, he left with new PR's and 2nd in the Shot Put.
