WELCOME TO THE 69th ANNUAL ROTARY INVITATIONAL TRACK AND FIELD MEET.  THIS YEAR'S MEET WILL BE HELD ON THE 27th AND 28th DAY OF MARCH, 2009. TO BE HELD AT AUSTIN FIELD, ON THE CAMPUS OF CHANDLER HIGH SCHOOL.

TRACK FACILITIES: The 400-meter track is an all weather surface and therefore will require soft-soled shoes with 1/4" spikes or less.

SPECTATOR ADMISSION  CHARGE: Admission charge for the public will be $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students with a school ID. Admission will be charged beginning with the qualifying races in the morning in the morning of Saturday and also for the open invitational on Friday.

CONCESSIONS:
A full concession stand will be open both days. Chandler Invitational t-shirts will be on sale at the meet as well.

FORMAT: Friday night will be contested solely for times and medals. Each heat and flight will be grouped by times and every heat/flight will medal the top finishers. Friday session will be referred to as the Open Session. Saturday session will be referred to as the Seeded Session. This session will be contested for points, awards and team trophies. It is possible for an athlete to compete in the Friday session in one event and compete Saturday in a different event.

NUMBER OF ENTRIES PER SCHOOL:
Each school will be allowed two (2) entries in each individual event. A third entry will be allowed if the entry exceeds the established qualifying standard. Forty-Eight entries plus the top six (6) alternates with the best qualifying times will be seeded into the seeded Invitational in the hurdles, 100, 200, and 400-meter dashes. In addition, only the top fifty-six (56) entries will be accepted for the 800 and top (44) entries 1600 & 3200 meter run. Each school will be allowed one entry in each of the relays. Only three heats of the 1600 relay will be contested Saturday night. Four Heats of the 400 Meter Relay will be contested.  Note: We will attempt to post lane assignments on the Arizona Track Coaches website. These will be preliminary and might not be the final draw. Official lane assignments and positions will be handed out at the coaches meeting on Saturday morning.  

ENTRY DEADLINE: All entries will be completed by the coach using Direct Athletics. Deadline will be Thursday, March 19, 2009, by 9:00am. There will be no changes allowed to your entries after this date.  

ENTRY FEE: An entry fee of $250.00 is requested for each school entering the Chandler Rotary Invitational seeded and open meet. An entry fee of $150 is requested for those teams only entering one gender. There  is a fee of $50 for out of state teams or those in state teams that wish to only enter four individuals or less.  Checks can be mailed to the school or brought with you to the meet.  Please make every effort to take care of all paper work to ensure proper credit.  Checks should be made out to Chandler Trackettes.

AWARDS  SEEDED****
Special Rotary Invitational Awards will be awarded to the top five finishers (including relays). These will be awarded immediately after each race or event. Team trophies will be awarded to the top three boys and girls teams. An outstanding track and an outstanding field male and female athlete will receive an award as the Most Outstanding Performer of the meet. The first place finisher will have the first choice for the award, second will then pick till fifth place gets her/his award. This way in case someone is a multiple event winner they do not have to have two watches etc.

AWARDS  OPEN
: Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each sprint and relay race. Drape Medals will be presented to the top seven finishers in each flight of the field events and distance runs. These races will be seeded straight by time. The fastest eight will be grouped followed by the next fastest eight etc. The distance runs and field events will be divided into two or three flights/heats (except the 3200m Run). No team points will be awarded from the open session, nor will team scores be kept in the open division.

QUALIFYING MEET: The Chandler Rotary Invitational seeded and open invitational will be a certified meet for 2A-3A-4A-5A state meets. The past three years the Chandler Rotary also served as a qualifying meet for the state of New Mexico.

The meet is NFHS certified for schools from Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas.  If your school is from another state email Dave Shapiro Immediately so it will be sanctioned.

This is a school invitational. Individuals must be entered as a member school of their state’s association. NO unattached athletes are allowed.

ENTRY FORMAT: Log onto www.directathletics.com and follow all instructions. Remember your password. You need to create your team roster first, before entering into events. Please enter year in school of your athlete.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
•    Hotels:  If you are in need of hotels there are quite a few in the Chandler area. However, you should book as early as possible as March is the busiest season for Phoenix Hotels. 
             •    The Inn Suites of Tempe and Phoenix will book rooms for out of area teams. Call James Wirth to block rooms. The rooms come with a full cooked breakfast. You        need to contact him as soon as possible at (480) 897-7900 *437. The hotel will take School Purchase Orders.

             •    The Crown Plaza at San Marcos is located ¼ of a mile south of the school. Contact Jill Turski at (480) 812-0900.

             •    The Radisson Hotel of Phoenix-Chandler is located off of Chandler Blvd and Interstate 10. Contact Carol Hobbs, (480) 961-4444 x556.
